Welcome to Platz Family Kennels!

We are a small, family run kennel near Springfield, MN featuring German Shorthair Pointer (GSP) dogs. Our GSP are energentic, water-loving, companionable, funny, smart and loyal dogs. They are strong, lean and sleek. Built to excel at everything from pointing, to tracking, to retrieving on land and water. GSP can be affectionate family dogs that love to hunt. Our GSP are gentle and reliable with children. They have grown up with our children.

Some things to Consider before buying a GSP:

What kind of dog are you looking for?
If you want a dog that will just lie around and look cute you may want to consider another breed.

How much experience do you have with dogs?
These dogs have a high energy level and will require training.

Where will the dog live?
GSP are not good kennel dogs. They are highly social dogs and need to be with their families. They are not happy if they live away from people and are left out of family activites. They also have a very short coat and will need a warm bed during the winter.

How will you exercise your dog?
GSP are not couch potatoes and need lots of exercise on a daily basis.
